Hair & Scalp Restoration
HOW IT WORKS
Red light therapy — clinically known as photobiomodulation (PBM) — uses wavelengths of 630–700 nm to penetrate scalp tissue and stimulate mitochondria inside hair follicle cells. This triggers increased ATP (cellular energy) production, which reactivates follicles that have shifted out of their active growth phase.
It also promotes vasodilation — widening blood vessels — so that more oxygen and nutrients reach the follicle. The result is improved hair density, reduced shedding, and stronger strands over consistent treatment.
What The Research Shows
-
Hair count increases of 35–51% vs. placebo over 16–24 weeks of consistent treatment
-
A 24-week double-blind trial on androgenetic alopecia showed significant improvement in hair density and thickness
-
Positive results also documented for stress-related shedding (telogen effluvium) and alopecia areata
-
A 2024 pilot study (675 nm) confirmed improved density and an extended anagen growth phase
-
Dual-wavelength treatment (660 + 850 nm) showed 51% greater hair thickness improvement vs. single wavelength
-
Stanford Medicine: “Used consistently over multiple months, red light has been shown to regrow thinning hair.”

Pairing With CALECIM®
-
Calecim® Professional works through growth factors, cytokines, and exosomes — the biological messengers that signal follicle activity. Red light therapy enhances the cellular energy available to respond to those signals. The two modalities target complementary pathways and reinforce each other’s effects.
-
Clinical evidence from hair restoration research confirms that red light therapy improves scalp health and follicle receptivity, enhancing results from PRP, minoxidil, and other proven treatments. The same principle applies when paired with Calecim®.
Who Is It For
-
Thinning hair or increased shedding
-
Post-pregnancy or stress-related hair loss
-
Pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia)
-
Scalp circulation and follicle health maintenance
-
Clients using Calecim® who want to maximize outcomes
-
Proactive, long-term hair health support
What To Expect
Results build gradually. Most clients notice reduced shedding in the first few weeks. Improvements in density, texture, and thickness typically become visible over 2–3 months of consistent treatment. Maintenance sessions help sustain results, as effects diminish when treatment stops.
Safety and Contraindications
Red light therapy is non-invasive, painless, and has an excellent safety profile. No serious adverse events have been reported across multiple large clinical trials. It is safe for all hair types and skin tones.
Please consult your physician before treatment if you have:
-
An implanted electronic device (pacemaker, cochlear implant, defibrillator)
-
An active scalp infection or open wound in the treatment area
-
A chronic scalp condition such as severe psoriasis or eczema — consult your dermatologist
-
A thyroid condition affecting hair growth — discuss with your physician
-
Pregnancy
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to use alongside color or chemical services?
Yes. Red light therapy is non-chemical and does not interfere with color, keratin, or other salon services. It can be added to most appointments.
How soon will I see results?
Most clients notice reduced shedding within the first few weeks. Visible density improvements typically develop over 2–3 months of consistent treatment.
Can I use red light at home between appointments?
Yes — several FDA-cleared home devices (laser caps, combs) exist for hair loss. Professional-grade treatment in the studio complements home use. Ask Renee about current home device recommendations.
Does it hurt?
No. The treatment is completely painless. Some clients notice a very mild, pleasant warmth. There is no downtime.

Red light therapy works best with consistency. A regular series of treatments, followed by maintenance sessions, produces the most sustained results.
